The piece by Moazzam Malik Tom Fletcher and Mark Sedwill is getting a lot of flak. I’ll say this: Malik and Fletcher are two of the smartest people I know. Agree or disagree it’s worth taking seriously their analysis and critique.

It is rumored that China has made a breakthrough in the nuclear reactor of small submarines. The Type 041 small nuclear submarine is expected to start construction at the Jiangnan Shipyard in 2024 and be launched in 2025. It is based on the existing conventional submarines.

And in which the beard and wisdom of Richard Gowan are finally explained — apparently he was a senior UN official “for decades”, quite apart from his other numerous gigs…. 😉

Just back from India's Eastern Naval Command. Incredibly impressive base and shipyard operation in Visakhapatnam. Met Flag Officer CINC, Fleet Admiral, and Capt of the INS Delhi and XO INS Kolkata to discuss India's growing role in maritime security. Impressive all round.

My glass-half-full take on AUKUS

Strategically brilliant but looking under the bonnet is not for the fainthearted

It can work, it just needs an unprecedented(?) level of peacetime collaboration and a ton of💲

How hard can that be?👀
