Juvenile European #eels , or 'elvers' (Anguilla anguilla) migrating at a falls in Co Clare this week. This species is listed as 'critically endangered' on the IUCN Red List due to declines from factors including habitat loss, pollution, and migration barriers.

Found in Dublin city centre on some lavender.
Not a native critter, they're originally from southern Europe but have been on the move North

Trinitys wildflower meadows are in full bloom right now. Red campion and meadow buttercups among the many species providing a home to numerous invertebrates and food for the animals that feed on them. 🌼🦋

One of our biggest beetle species, they also go by the name Maybug. Hopefully see a lot more over the coming weeks. 🪲❤️

Upgrade on the bee hotel today. Was very successful last summer, so I've added lots more homes plus a roof to keep the summer rain off our nesting buzzers. 🐝❤️

One of my absolute favourite moths, the Alder Kitten, turned up last night after missing my garden last year. Some moths are a box ticking exercise, but this one always gets me a little excited!

Damsel and Dragonflies larva all emerging from the water and moulting into stunning adults right now. They've been doing this for over 250 million years with very little change.
