This will be immense. Assessment in history is tricky and fascinating, and Jonathan Grande does such thoughtful and original work on this. He’s hands down the leading expert on assessment in history in my view. Don’t miss this!

Reading the chapters of our new textbook to my classes (and relishing every pause and every cliffhanger) has utterly transformed my teaching. I’m so excited about sharing these stories with the world.

The most exciting news! I still remember the moment I first heard about the series, and first read one of its chapters.

It continues to be utterly transformative for me and my pupils.

The winning style & practical resourcing of Will Bailey-Watson & Elizabeth Carr on teaching about the Mongols (& other topics) will soon be available in a brand new textbook series – one where (as Michael Fordham advocates) the authors themselves are visible. Watch this space!

The auditorium was packed Ark Soane Academy today for the sell-out history teaching conference. Ark Schools & Ventures history curriculum puts stories at its heart and this conference explored how and the impact it can have.

This is superb!

Feedback is “theirs [the teacher’s], not yours. It pays to find out from them what they thought, what they think the challenges are, what they think some solutions might be.”

Imagine what it would feel like to work in a school taking this approach.

This photo doesn't lie. It captures the joy of Ark's history curriculum: knowledge-rich in best sense (extended stories, world-building, learning to argue, bags of scholarship). I've worked closely with Ark hist lead Jonathan Grande & the fab dept at Ark Soane Academy. What a job!

Understanding understanding is, for me, subject specific.

I think secondary-school social media discourse would be improved if claims about the usefulness of pedagogical activities were explicitly constrained to the subject a teacher is familiar with.

This comment from Jonathan Grande is really important - this is a book to help all teachers, not only mentors and those new to teaching. It will help everyone keep developing their teaching - so important for staying fresh & young in spirit. CPD for life, not just the first 5 yrs!

In preparation for the release of 'Mentoring History Teachers in the Secondary School' later this week, I thought I might tweet a few of the reviews we've received for the book. You can check them out in full here: routledge.com/Mentoring-Hist…
