Dr Rachel Clarke GMC This is rather frustrating isn't it? Presumably PAs will be supervised by doctors. And presumably this will become part of our contracts whenever PAs are part of our teams. So when will they ask us what we think of this? If this is realistic and how we'll make time/space for it?

Nick Mamo Marina Politis (she/her) Fliss 🏳️‍🌈 Julie Rodgers I’m not sure if that will stand post Montgomery ruling - if you don’t know at what threshold change the patient would consider it significant, you may leave yourself open to liability. This is where relationship with patient is key, easier to balance when you know them

Nick Mamo Marina Politis (she/her) Fliss 🏳️‍🌈 I imagine it can get complicated though. For example, what if the patient has a disease that they could potentially transmit to other people? If you respect the right not to know, you could be endangering other people. Medical ethics are so complex.

shibley 🐼 Vote YES!!! Parody RCGP (not a doctor) Merc I presume you are referring to the tweets where people mention unclear job titles of non -doctors. You'll notice that in most cases (definitely all the ones I have seen) the tweets are clear in not attacking the specific person, but rather the system. Surely that's the point?

Rob Fleming Melissa B Daniel Leaper Dean And with GP being so busy, finding such practices is actually quite difficult. (Other factors include that GP being so busy and exhausting, actually a lot of GPs early in their career are quitting, or not even finishing training. And I don't blame them.) (2/2)

Rob Fleming Melissa B Daniel Leaper Dean To add - the shortage of GPs is multifactorial, but a lack of training posts is also an issue there. This itself is driven by a number of factors, but i believe that one of the biggest is that to train a GP, you need a GP practice to train them in. (1/2)

Martyn the Molar Nick Mamo Marina Politis (she/her) Fliss 🏳️‍🌈 Yes. Informed consent is key. If the patient does not know what harm not receiving information may cause, then it’s not an informed decision, and the practitioner could get into trouble.
