I’ve been looking in more detail at the 2023 suicide figures from ONS, published this week.

They showed a 6% rise, giving us the highest national rate since 1999.

In fact, the detailed picture - by age, sex & where people live - is not simple.

New suicide figures for the final 3m of 2023 are published by Office for National Statistics (ONS) today, giving us rates for last year as a whole.

It is not good news.

The suicide rate rose 6% from 2022, the first substantial rise since 2018.

The rate was 11.1 per 100,000 people, highest figure since 1999.

We found 117 suicides by inpatients under 25 in UK over 11yrs. 20 were under 18.

Most were female - personality disorder diagnosis & childhood abuse common.

Prevention includes greater focus on ligatures & admissions closer to home.

Just watched the detectives OCG … utterly devastated to read that Cameron brooksbank passed away yesterday … add another 15 years to that evil bastards 18 years in prison … not guilty of attempted murder but in the end his actions in 2017 eventually result in death RIP Cam 🙏🏻
