The Labour Party Pass #GloriasLaw - ensure there is a legal right for all, in all care settings to have at least one #CareSupporter - we know Keir Starmer supports it - so please put it in your manifesto- we don’t want to die alone #RightsForResidents
Navigating end of life terminology can be complex and often challenging to understand.
Lets explore and define these commonly used terms for those who are on this journey, or simply want to learn more about end of life.

Kate Allison Pearson Rights For Residents My mum’s ‘escape’ from her prison came when she had a stroke in 2021. Whisked off to hospital where I insisted on being with her & thankfully she then moved to an amazing nursing home who put the needs of residents before all else! I will never follow such ‘guidance’ again!
As part o our engagement for the care partner policy work I spent time with Kate and Rights For Residents yesterday and I listened to the heartbreaking stories of trauma and pain that was caused by restrictions the care partner policy is the basis for change and person centred care
Kate Allison Pearson Sadly Kate those of us who experienced this will never forget! Those who made these lockdown rules want us all to move on, let’s keep reminding them we will with #GloriasLaw Rights For Residents
Remembering my dad today. He died two years ago, in hospital, at the time we were ‘allowed’ one hour, one person, by appointment - we must get #GloriasLaw to ensure that no one dies alone, that those you want to be with you can be Rights For Residents #RightsForResidents
Thank you Adrian for talking so honestly & openly about death. For many during the pandemic, dying alone was a stark reality. We must get #GloriasLaw to ensure that this will not happen again - We don't want to die alone. #RightsForResidents

Diverse Alzheimers My son (12, autistic) comes in to spend time with my residents. He plays cards/games/dances with them with them it benefits both my residents & him (he’s a little old soul who prefers adult company) many visitors have taken his lead & joined in too on seeing him
Diverse Alzheimers Intergenerational contact is essential, kids often teach their parents appropriate behaviour #DiverseAlz
Seeing Rights For Residents here is also about care and compassion there. Rights for residents campaigning for the rights of people in care and the compassion that needs to be shown at times. #diversealz
Stigma...being raised and can consider how stigmas 'block' kindness. Remembering times people living with dementia have been distressed/upset with accusations that they do not have dementia or they must be fine because they are 'high functioning' #diversealz
Question 8 How important is language and how can one be mindful about this? Think back to the abusive comments some people with dementia can receive, including accusations. Think also of a topic that has arisen over the past two weeks. #diversealz .
Question 2 Random acts of kindness for people living with dementia. What can they be? Yes, we are specifically asking this even though it applies to everyone. It's our focus here. #diversealz
