Yesterday we were mobilised, alongside Basingstoke Fire Station, to a 🔥 in the open at a residential address in Silchester. This was a grassfire, approx 74m x 50m, which started from a bonfire. Despite the recent rain, the ground is very dry please avoid lighting bonfires.

Our teams have spoken to multiple news outlets to help share our safety messaging.

The message is simple:
❗ Please don’t have bonfires
❗ Leave disposable BBQs at home
❗ Take all litter home with you
❗ Report deliberate fire-setting
❗ Call 999 if you see a fire

We can’t wait to wave goodbye to the heatwave 🥵 👋

Our teams on the ground are working non-stop to prevent wildfires and look after visitors. But they can only do so much. Help us out!

Do not light fires or BBQs and keep safety a priority.

Crews are working very hard and are set to have an incredibly busy weekend - if you see a fire please call 999 from a safe location, and don't try to tackle it yourself. And please no BBQs or dropped cigarettes Country Land & Business Assn South East England Wildfire Group Rob Gazzard

Our countryside is at greater risk of fires due to prolonged periods of dry weather 🔥

Help support our emergency services and when outside this weekend.

If you see a smoulder, a flame or a fire unattended, get to a safe place and dial 999.

Firefighters from @Hants_Fire and Dorset&Wiltshire FRS are working hard in sweltering conditions to keep a blaze at Forest under control. 🚒

The fire service says it spans roughly five hectares and crews expect to be there for another couple of days.

There is still an ongoing fire at Ringwood Forest which is causing a large smoke plume. This is resulting in a general haze of smoke over the Bournemouth area. Residents are advised to close their windows and doors. Bournemouth Echo

Crews remain on scene at the fire on Chobham Common, which spread to around 150 acres at its peak. Overnight the cooler temperatures & hard work of fire crews contained the spread, but firefighters are expected to be on scene through the day. Please avoid the area.
