Lymphoid interstitial pneumonia (LIP)

Benign polyclonal proliferation of B/T cells in the 🫁

Causes:
⭐️Rheum: Sjogrens (25%), RA, SLE
⭐️ID: HIV, HTLV-1
⭐️ 💊: phenytoin
⭐️Idiopathic (<20%)

CT
⭐️ Cysts (~75%): peribronchovascular
⭐️ GGOs: lower lobe
⭐️ Centrilobular nodules

Lemierre Syndrome

Oralopharngeal infx ➡️ IJ septic thrombophlebitis

Fusobacterium🥇, but also Strep, Staph, Eikenella, & Bacteroides

Metastatic sites
🫁: septic emboli, cavitary lesions, effusions/empyema
🦴: septic arthritis (large 🦴s)
🩸: bacteremia, anaerobes grow slowly

Post-MI complications

Mechanical:
⭐️Papillary 💪 rupture (1 week): MR
⭐️VSD (0-5 days)
⭐️Free wall rupture (0-2 wks): tamponade
⭐️LV aneurysm (1-2 wks): LV thrombus

Arrhythmias:
⭐️Ventricular>atrial
⭐️Brady: RCA>LAD/LCX

Pericarditis:
⭐️Early (~4 days)
⭐️Late (1 week-3 months)

Species: C. neoformans & C. gattii

Main risk factors are HIV w/ CD4 <100, steroids, and sarcoid.

50% of pts w/ C gattii have antibodies to GM-CSF (associated w/ PAP).

Clinical:
⭐️Meningoencephalitis
⭐️⬆️ICP
⭐️Mass lesions: more common w/ C. gattii, toxo, & TB
