Warm congrats, once again, to Charco Press, Ana Paula Maia, & Zoë Perry for winning the 2024 Republic of Consciousness Prize for their gut punch of a novel, Of Cattle and Men. The judges and I haven’t been able to shake off the novel’s dark mood, motives, and landscape since first reading it.
And then Zoë Perry went & won it with her brilliant trans. of Ana Paula Maia’s novel Of Cattle and Men, and we make a happy honourable second with the Republic of Consciousness Prize’s 1st ever special mention - the book couldn’t go unawarded it seems. Delighted thanks to all! A PELTA sweep!
