‘The govt’s White Paper promised a private rented sector “with affordability, security and quality at its heart.”

As Chair of the RRC I fully support the Renters' Reform Coalition & agree the Bill falls far short of the govt’s promise.

The Bill in its current form is a failure!

Katie, this is appalling. Really sorry to hear what happened to you - more than once. Security have completely taken over the courts & don’t seem to be accountable to anyone.

It’s also a kick in the teeth for all those renters who were promised s21 reform (no fault evictions) only to be told the courts aren’t ready!

Result as Michelle Heeley KC states a 12% reduction of criminal barristers free to prosecute/defend Midland Circuit rape and sexual offence cases:

My teenage years growing up in Birmingham were influenced by the music of Bob Marley. Seeing the film One Love tonight (with my son) reminds me of how Bob’s lyrics are just as relevant now as they have ever been & his music so emotive.

There needs to be a more proactive approach to ensure legal aid is available to all those who should be able to access it.

Until then, Ministry of Justice cannot demonstrate that it is meeting its core objectives or securing value for money.
