One day full of Cinnabar moth caterpillars, the next a lifeless dusty mess. When will we learn that we don't need to flatten the field margins just because we've finished harvesting? .

The hollow stems of plants like hogweed and bramble are very important places for insects like solitary wasps to overwinter in. Flailing verges and hedge margins destroys them. πŸ“· Rob Wolton

Nature never ceases to amaze me!
A Shoeburyness underpass, a fantastic newly discovered invertebrate site. I’ve never seen so many Dasypoda hirtipes (Pantaloon Bee) with Andrena pilipes (Black mining bee) also present.
Truely made my day! Essex Wildlife Trust

This is a Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris). Other species can look quite similar but you can identify Common Wasps from the black 'anchor-shaped' mark on their face...

As part of the The Wildlife Trusts campaign, I’m planting some wildflower window boxes in my shed!

In a month or so they should be teeming with bees and butterflies collecting nectar!

There really isn’t any space too small to cater for insects!
