A United Nations committee has accused the UK government of demonising disabled people and treating them as “undeserving citizens” by preparing to fund tax cuts through slashing disability benefits.

I’ll never forget being screamed at ‘being an unemployed benefit cheat’ for using my disabled bus pass…whilst travelling to work.

It was the direct result
of the government scrounger rhetoric, which stated over a decade ago and has only got worse.

Still no response to the questions on benefits eligibility assessments or benefits deaths.

Many of us lost our jobs because of chronic illness and disability and when work places wouldn’t implement adjustments. How can we be fit for work now when services are crumbling? Media is pretending mental illness doesn’t exist

Years of 'scrounger' rhetoric has caused the rise in hate crime!

The government treats us like we're nothing, so it has seemingly become OK for society to do the same.

As the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions should you not have been attending the UN CRPD defending your appalling treatment of disabled people?

There is no place for us in society now.

We are not valued or wanted, despite government claims to the contrary now.

Over a decade of cruel actions have spoken louder than words!

We are punished via Tory policy.

My late lunch break is now coming to an end. I’m one of the lucky disabled people who can work (only because of care package).

I’m livid and my heart breaks for all the people who have died as direct result of the trauma they faced at the hands of the benefit system.

Is it me, or are the UK Government's representatives just reading out their departments' remit, policies and procedures and calling it a Q&A?
