🔍 We need to rethink the purpose of grading. Is it to rank and sort students, or to provide feedback and support their learning? Let's prioritize the latter.

🔍 Not completing homework is not proof of insufficient learning. Thus, missing homework shouldn't be recorded as a zero—it's simply missing data. Better, don't grade homework at all.

📚 Steps to mastery of a skill: 1. acquisition (I did it once) 2. fluency (I can do it consistently) 3. maintenance (I can keep doing it) 4. transfer (I can use it in new ways) (Hanson, et al., 1978) and still true.

🎓 A low pass rate or class average grade is NOT an indicator of rigor of the course, but rather an indicator of inadequate and/or practices. I'm talking to you, too, college professors.

We held our student-led parent conferences yesterday . There is so much to love about this process! Not only do students feel empowered but it helps foster a sense of community, reaffirming our shared goal of ensuring that our children thrive.
