Championed by religious groups & slavery abolitionist #WilliamWilberforce , the #SlaveTradeAct became law in Great Britain & its colonies OTD in 1807, ending the trading of slaves throughout the empire. It was another 26 years before slavery itself was ended in the United Kingdom.
