Peatlands are an important part of the history, culture and economy of Ireland. The are comparable to rainforests. Manchán Magan notes that TinaClaffeyPhoto's profound engagement with Ireland's peatlands gives us an opportunity to witness its wonders.

Healthy peatlands store carbon and are home to rare plant and animals.

That’s why we’re restoring peatlands to a healthy, natural state. Our Nature for Climate Fund has provided over £33 million to drive nature recovery across 20,000 hectares in England.

We have an important message to share this : go peat-free.

We've been stamping out the use of peat from our gardens for over 20 years, as part of our mission to restore our peatlands to healthy, wildlife rich places, and encourage everyone to do the same.

🧵We are set to significantly increase the pace and scale of peatland restoration over the coming years, with a target of repairing 8000ha of peatlands by 2030. That’s roughly the same area as 20,000 football fields!

Happy ... even that it was yesterday.
Peatlands are helping us to understand the pollution by toxic metals that humans were under during the last 9.0000 years

A day late for but it's never too late to highlight the deplorable state of British peatlands thanks to driven grouse shooting

Burnt to a crisp, eroding away & totally devoid of peat forming species

The world must look on in horror at how we treat peatlands
