Feeding people is so much more than ensuring they have delicious food on their plates. It’s meeting their needs and helping them grow.

Here’s a curlew (red-listed) desperately searching for its nest after the field has been mowed for silage.

Mowing fields in May is a relatively recent thing. Across much of Spain, it is prohibited, to protect nesting wildlife from being macerated.

This week we saw a MAJOR lifeline to curlew numbers in the Severn and Avon Vales!

SIX chicks have been recorded from two nests – both born to pairs with one head-started and one wild bird 🐣

Why are we losing so many of our ground nesting birds? These are the scenes currently all over & many counties - beautiful mown down for silage (cattle feed).

Curlew, Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Oystercatcher & Lapwing are ground nesting birds. Right…

'I remember in 1989 I was fishing and the place was reverberating with corncrake and curlew. And when I went back to those spots not that long afterwards all those birds were gone.'
