The elementary textbook of Aristotelian logic, Porphyry's Isagoge, translated into Latin in late-antiquity by Boethius. Everyone needs to have at least his own fragment! (Universität Rostock, Fragm. philol. 36)

I knew there were scrapbooks of manuscript initials, but am just learning about the equivalent practice with early printed books, like this example from Oberlin's Special Collections

I love when two of my favorite things are in the same auction: a Flemish old master painting and manuscript .

On the verso of this van cleeve workshop(?) panel you can see a fragment a humanist script poking through.

The pastedowns in this incunable (Heidelberg UB, Q 9190 qt. INC::[1]) were taken from various MSS. Most notable is the early copy of the Vita of Saint Pachomius, whose feast is celebrated today!

Been a bit since I’ve shown some here is some printed binding waste in which the cover boards are made of built-up recycled pages- enjoy!

Unusual binders waste! Two pages of a vellum Parisian Book of Hours (~1525 Hardouyn(?)) were used for this French booklet (1618) about inheritance law.

Look at the handpainted initials! 😍

The Municipal Archives in Antwerp are pleased that we were able to identify a Carolingian fragment in their collections. It , turns out now to be the earliest document they hold.

In the Sloane Herbarium I periodically come across instances where parts of older printed books have been used for mounting specimens. So far I just use Google Books to identify the source text where I can. Here are a few examples Fragmentarium (1/4)
