There’s a huge variety of plants & flowers in the hay meadows. The meadows are unimproved, undrained, left to grow naturally with no fertiliser (other than dung) or pesticides. Many of our fields are so steep that up to a third will be left uncut.

A classic haymeadow with 100+ pyramidal orchids, lots of wildflowers, clouds of butterflies and swallows ducking and diving. Such a magical place to just stand and be part of the natural world

's new King George field haymeadow looking superb this year, even in the drizzle. Second summer of relaxing former regular close mowing and the rewards are manifest, without any supplementary planting or seeding. Although a cool Painted Lady not too perky....

Here is what a real, ancient, Thames floodplain haymeadow looks like; just before it is mown. Inundated in winter, dry now. Great biodiversity of long-lived perennial plants, on a never-ploughed carbon-rich soil. Hinksey Meadow: these could be my good-bye photos because here..

This job has its highs and lows, but seeing a nest of curlew chicks hatching out in a traditional haymeadow that's been restored via green hay transfer is definitely a high note 💚 Forest of Bowland National Landscape YDMT

Take a moment 😌

Feel the summer breeze around you as you listen to the hum of life, in Swindale Valley’s vibrant wildflower haymeadow.

When you want to hide for the rain, and your favorite location is occupied, and anyway you are too big. Though this beautiful haymeadow in the Eifel (D) had more than enough flowers. Black-veined White (Aporia crataegi).

And here you find Ruth in her natural habitat amongst the most iconic upland hay meadow plant, wood crane's-bill. Geranium sylvaticum has been disappearing from species-rich meadows and is often restricted to uncut edges, banks and roadside verges.
