First British example of the weevil - gasterocercus depressirostris trapped in my VC15 moth trap on 27/9. A rare species in its central and Southern European range. Well worth potting anything unusual, not just moths!

Well day one of the Seawatch festival done!
Additional sightings this afternoon include 3 Caspian Gull, 2 Sooty Shearwater, 5 Manx Shearwater, Pomarine Skua, 8 Arctic Skua and adult Roseate Tern plus 3 Minke whales and 8 Bottlenose dolphins

A first for me: Mutinus caninus (Dog Stinkhorn) at Brockadale. I found an 'egg' first, thinking it was a young mushroom until it burst in my fingers, then I found the mature specimen.

Robins and red-throats, the perfect antidote to the swifts' departure.
