First British example of the weevil - gasterocercus depressirostris trapped in my VC15 moth trap on 27/9. A rare species in its central and Southern European range. Well worth potting anything unusual, not just moths!

A first for me: Mutinus caninus (Dog Stinkhorn) at Brockadale. I found an 'egg' first, thinking it was a young mushroom until it burst in my fingers, then I found the mature specimen.

Up close with Euura miliaris, a willow-feeding sawfly larva, at Allerthorpe Common Yorkshire Wildlife Trust reserve. Only 8 documented Yorkshire records and five of those are mine. Must surely be more widespread on young Salix plants... YNU
