A really important paper. We need to do better at providing access to semaglutide - a life saving drug for patients with obesity and CVD - drug companies need to reduce their prices, health care systems need to fund this treatment. nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

Studies of over 700,000 individuals in the UK and Estonian biobanks showed that adult carriers of a deletion on chromosome 16 have early-onset and difficult-to-treat type 2 . The deletion includes SH2B1, which is involved in leptin and insulin signaling.
