This kind of abject corruption is brought to you in large part by a that has systematically shredded our country’s campaign finance regulations and many other important guardrails for our democracy. washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/…

The Vermont legislature passed a bill banning guns at polls with bipartisan support & veto-proof supermajorities! Last week Colorado lawmakers voted to close the concealed carry loophole at polls, drop boxes, and ballot counting centers. This common sense policy is catching on.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Glad to see strong White House push back against latest xenophobic tirade by House of Representatives, which is supposed to be the “People’s House.” This morning, 230 civil rights & justice orgs led by The Leadership Conference joined in opposing this horrendous bill.

Yesterday, the Georgia Governor signed a bill that makes it even easier for people to attempt to kick their neighbors off the voting rolls through voter challenges. Voters now face increased threats to their right to vote. 1/8 apnews.com/article/georgi…

As it turns out, there is actual proof that noncitizens are *not* voting in federal elections. This has been studied and studied, including by Trump's old voter fraud commission. They found nothing. And ineligible voters are easy to catch because leave an actual paper trail!

Reupping this thread in response to the cynical and dangerous introduction of legislation requiring documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.

Some pundits say small donors are bad for democracy, but the real threat is the few megadonors who outspend millions of small donors.💸Amplifying small donors’ voices with public financing will make polarization & dysfunction better, not worse. 🧵brennancenter.org/our-work/resea…

Our annual survey of election officials is out: we continue to see high levels of threats and abuse, and concern about interference. At the same time, an equally important story: LEOs have adjusted, taking important steps to keep workers and voters safe. brennancenter.org/our-work/analy…

Watch: Chris Hayes and b-boy bouiebaisse talk about how wildly ahistorical and just wrong it is for the former president to claim immunity, citing as proof the brief we filed on behalf of 15 top U.S. historians

does NOT need to decide every fact pattern to find there is clearly no immunity for a president's attempt to overthrow an election. Roberts said in 2022: 'If it is not necessary to decide more to dispose of a case, then it is necessary not to decide more.'

Yesterday's oral argument in the Trump immunity case didn't change the facts. As Ronald Brownstein notes, citing the brief we filed on behalf of 15 historians, the founders ''converged on the same understanding: The President can be prosecuted.'' theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
