The February roost survey results are in!

Our rangers recorded two male hen harriers and a ringtail alongside five marsh harriers on Sedge Fen. Three barn owls were also spotted on Sunday evening 🦉

The hen harriers are back at Wicken Fen!

On our most recent #wildlife count, the rangers spotted:

- 4 hen harriers (3 male, 1 ringtail)
- 18 marsh harriers
- A record 331 whooper swans
- 17 cranes
- A bonus starling murmuration!

Look out for starling #murmurations around dusk at this time of year and into the winter months.

Here are some starlings swarming around a #konik pony during golden hour last week at Wicken Fen. One of those starlings is about to come into land!

Turning the taps Wicken Fen

We’ve been busy turning the taps to create more wetland space for wildlife over the winter.
Wetting the fens helps to restore fenland habitat and reduce CO2 emissions by sequestering carbon.
