Water companies in England have incurred debts of more than £64,000,000,000.

We won't get the water infrastructure we need with privatised water.

I have co-sponsored Early Day Motion 738, calling for English water companies to be brought under public control.

This is a petition to force the Govt to clean up our water. Something they should have done years ago.

A damning vote of no confidence in ⁦Defra UK⁩’s ability to deliver on its legal obligations to bring the majority of our water bodies to good ecological condition by 2027.
❌No plan
❌No timetable
❌No funding

Great to see UK problems getting an international audience

Maybe government and regulators will take it seriously, when it's an international embarrassment?

Beyond parody. An utter abuse of their responsibilities. These people should be in prison.

So @dowjones FactSet RepRisk Sustainable Analytics- you list (or influence) the inclusion of UK water companies on DJISI / MSCI ESG - is it ethical or sustainable to poison almost every river in a country? Fancy changing your opinions? (Which I can't see, no subscription 😢 )

This of course would be a massive scandal. 'Free markets' they say.but in free markets there are no government bail outs.
Who owns the CDSs on Thames Water 💧 and shell companies that surround it?

That’s a wrap!

Week 24 of the strike against sewage has come to an end. That’s now officially two days of my life spent outside of this monstrous waste of money.

It’s been a while since I’ve gone 24 hours without sleep, and I don’t want to do it again anytime soon!

Very glad to see that at least one London mayoral candidate has a coherent policy.
Can any of the others improve on this?

Genuine and not genuine discharges highly correlate suggesting some false alarms might not be false or that whatever triggers real events also triggers false events 🤷‍♂️

CSOs which discharge most frequently also discharge for longer durations. If these occur in sensitive locations then they are no brainier to tackle first.

Southern Water categorised some of its genuine spills as “non-impacting” on the basis that water quality at nearby bathing water beaches are likely not to be affected. We found non-impacting discharges can last multiple tidal cycles (red lines). Some lasted 70 days. Log scale
