almost every paper I read is like “we know x about sharks, no similar data exists for rays” & THIS is why I am so stoked to work with batoids. so much to learn 🥞🦈

Hi! Our OA paper in Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology is finally out! 🥳
Here we show how guitarfishes (durophagous batoids) process hard preys with jaws filled up with jelly cartilage. I'm sure you cannot do it with your bony jaw!

Sometimes when you draw batoids out they look a little more 3D than 2D, a task I might add as most are flat , see Gymnura, and other times you get Raja; who looks like a confused derp and knows .

With all the crap going on in this world, I figured you could use some Batoids, including species #402 Round Stingray, as well as a thornback guitarfish and a bat ray (which almost pulled my rod into the water)

Movie outfits have got to be one of the most underrated aspects of film production. They tell us an immeasurable amount of things about the character who's wearing them. That's why its all the more hilarious when filmmakers miss the mark

Ya like Shark Week? Not only does host over half of all known fish diversity, about 95% of all chondrichthyans are found exclusively in marine settings! 1/2

Directors, studios, and movie stars were scarred by these monumental box office flops. Regardless of the star power and technical effects, some pictures are just doomed to bomb at the box office.

🚨PhD paper alert🚨 New description of bone-like tissue in the neural arch of sharks, batoids, and chimaeras with histology and microCT (spoiler: it is more diverse than we thought...) We still have so much to learn from this group! 🦈
