Making scientific instruments is often a team effort.

This stunning was 'Made by Muhammad Tahir' & 'Designed by `Abd al-A'imma'.

Though both names are engraved on the back, they didn't add a date. We think it was made c. 1710 in Isfahan (modern-day Iran).

in 1959, Soviet spacecraft Luna 3 was launched.

Luna was the first mission to photograph the far side of the , making globes like this possible. However, it couldn't photograph it all, so there are still sections missing from the globe!
