1. SAS doctors CANNOT see undifferentiated patients

2. PAs CAN see undifferentiated patients

It is sad to witness the silence from hospitals & different healthcare organisations in the UK about #NationalDoctorsDay

Sometimes being a doctor in the UK feels like a paradox. The buck stops with us but we also need to 'tiptoe' around & 'play down' what we do. Or else.

Healthcare in England:

'We want Doctors to study for yrs & jump through many loopholes to complete their training...'

Also in England:
'We are introducing higher-paid staff with lower standards & duration of training to perform work that was once the domain of the Doctor'

So NHS E have issued a statement saying each patient contact of PAs MUST be debriefed with their supervising GP.

A medical director is worried that patients misunderstand PA level of qualification….well from the last 15 months it’s crystal clear so do PAs 🙃

Better late than never NHS England advise GPs on how to supervise PAs and stop them replacing doctors
