📰 Quoted!

Giving local authorities a choice over the bus system that works best for them could help to sustain and protect bus services, but we still think there should be minimum service levels for all communities.

Just been watching Inclusion London's Mayoral Hustings focusing on disabled people.

The message on floating bus stops could not hasve been clearer. Disabled people were not consulted and all parties recognised current situation is unacceptable.

Whatever your politics, there is no question that this young man electrified the rallies against the Streatham Wells LTN.

Mums For Lungs In Lewisham the pollution hotspots are all on the densely populated A roads. Our LTN displaces traffic here from the high car-owning side roads, worsening air for the many who live, work, walk, cycle, wait for buses on A roads. What’s your position on LTNs Mums For Lungs ?

Just seen Edinburgh Council's careful assessment of the first 6 months of the Corstorphine LTN. It's a mixed picture:

Lower traffic levels around schools
More traffic on boundary rds
Less walking
Less cycling
Marginal improvements in noise & pollution

Carlton Reid WIRED When I write about our lived experience of the LTN - traffic displaced onto our road, increased asthma across our borough affecting 2 members of our car-free household, delays to our buses, my son’s journey to SEN school I get blocked, mocked, blacklisted. Funny that.

Registered vehicles on UK roads:

1991: 20 million
2007: 27 million
2022: 40.8 million (81.3% are cars). 🚙🚗🛻💨💨💨

Over 92% of car owners live on side roads. . They are the traffic congesting & polluting High Streets & Red Routes where the majority walk, cycle, bus.🚶‍♀️🚴🚎

This is interesting. Here's a blog I wrote along similar lines a little while ago: johnstewartliveblog.wordpress.com/2023/08/23/wil…

We don't know the area but these Birmingham residents are making a good case to reduce danger and death on their roads. Surely this, rather than introducing fashionable LTNs, is the sort of road that should be top priority for transport authorities to tackle.

Paris tram extension open linking areas to rail and metro

Exactly what is needed from North Thamesmead to Abbey Wood and Woolwich Liz line stations then on to major growth areas in Belvedere/Erith to east and Charlton/Greenwich peninsula to West

Far better than limited DLR plan

This is the 6th demonstration Better Streets for Birmingham have held in the city in the last 10 months, each one at a location where someone has been killed or seriously injured in a road traffic collision. Yesterday’s was in memory of Hizar Hanif, a young father killed on Soho Rd, Handsworth

Adding new barriers which stop disabled people accessing public transport is unforgivable. Why is this being allowed in London?

An exciting proposal for Very Light Rail in the Peak District! 🚆🍃

Please everyone, read this about Will Norman
He is London's Walking and Cycling Commissioner.
What happened to making sure blind and disabled people can walk and travel safely?
He has been ignoring disability campaigners as far back as 1.05.2019 (pictured here):
