Two species, Bramble and Ivy, much maligned as native thugs here showing their enormous value for a wide variety of insects - both stands absolutely a buzz in the Autumn sunshine 🐝🦋🐞 wildflowerhour BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland Kevin Walker

A 2019 study published in Nature Communications, found that human activities by the early 2010s were consuming approximately 25-40% of the planet's terrestrial net primary productivity. The downstream effects->loss of biodiversity and bioabundance.

Another great thing about trapping on Scilly is the sheer volume of moths - a bioabundance that is rarely encountered in parts of mainland Britain. On 26 July an amazing 296 Scarce Footman were caught in 2 small portable traps (6W actinic & 3W LED).

On Fregate Island, 20 years ago the rats were eradicated and at the time there were NO lesser seabirds. Look at the place now and feel and hear the Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery and bioabundance

Solar-powered bird feeders (!) are an incredibly poor use of finite rare materials needed to make renewable energy. Moreover, artificial light at night likely underpins loss of insect bioabundance, and hence declines in species like Spotted Flycatchers - which don't eat peanuts.

Triglav National Park…what an incredible place! Although many of the species are familiar to the UK, the shear bioabundance and sense of wilderness certainly is not. We should aspire for our National Parks UK to be true havens for biodiversity, not glorified farms. Rewilding Britain

SWALLOW APPEAL. Dear all, I am looking for areas in the UK, villages, individual barns, still home to a glorious abundance of nesting swallows. It is staggering how hard this has become, as the UK's avian bioabundance fades every year. Please DM if you can help. Thank you, Ben

Wild Woodbury recently welcomed a small herd of cattle to the site. 🐮 The natural process of mixed grazing, ground disturbance, and natural dung on site will stimulate a dynamic mosaic of habitats, creating space for biodiversity and bioabundance to increase. 💚 ~ Jack
